Buses, shuttles and taxis
Airbus - city to airport service
Schedule:
- departs central city and airport every 20 minutes during
the day, every 30 minutes during the evening
- to airport - first bus 4.40 am, last bus 9.00 pm
- to city - first bus 6.20 am, last bus 10.00 pm
- Early bird services (01 November until 30 April)
- To airport - first bus 3.40 am
- To city - first bus 4.40 am
Shuttle buses
A number of shuttle buses are available from the bus shuttle
rank which is accessable through door 11 in the arrivals area,
Jean Batten International Terminal. They also operate outside
the Air New Zealand and Qantas domestic terminals.
Inter-terminal bus service
A free bus runs between the Jean Batten International Terminal
and the Air New Zealand and Qantas domestic terminals from
6.00 am to 10:30 pm daily.
Taxis
Taxis are available for all arriving and departing flights
from both the international and domestic terminals. Taxis
ranks are situated at the western side of the Jean Batten
International Terminal and in front of the Air New Zealand
and Qantas domestic terminals.
Airport services & facilities
Baby facilities
Nursery rooms with cots and changing tables are available
free of charge near the Jean Batten foodcourt.
There are also changing tables in the female toilets throughout
the international and domestic terminals.
Baggage services
Free baggage trolleys are available throughout the terminals.
Baggage storage
Baggage storage is available at the Visitors Information Centre
in the domestic transfer area, which is located on the ground
floor. Charges are NZ$5 - NZ$10 for suitcases. For more information

The Baggage Services Shop provides overnight storage facilities
and can arrange door to door delivery of excess baggage. They
also sell recyclable transparent polythene for sealing bags,
boxes and packs. This will protect them from scratches, moisture
or tampering. The shop also sells protective wrapping for
fragile items and bicycles.

Bicycle facilities
Travellers can dismantle or assemble bicycles in arrivals
area which is located outside the international terminal.
All cyclists must wear a helmet when cycling in New Zealand.
Childcare Centre
Airport Lollipops Educare provides qualified caregivers and
a fully equipped centre. Bookings are essential. Located on
Tom Pearce Drive. Phone +64 9 275 0888. Open 7.00 am to 6.00
pm Monday to Friday.
Airspace Entertainment Centre
Fun for all age groups. Activities include Lego activity centre,
Crayola colouring-in corner, Funstation, flight Simulator,
Sega Rally and other activities. Located on the first floor
of the international terminal.
Medical services and first aid
Medical services for passengers and visitors to the airport
include:
- For urgent medical attention or for a first aid room dial
98777 on any airport company phone (not the Telecom telephones)
in the terminals.
- Full medical and healthcare services are available from
Radius Medical, located at the Airport Shopping Centre,
John Goulter Drive. Phone +64 9 256-8444. Open 8.00 am to
8.00 pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 5.00pm Saturday,
Sunday and Public holidays.
Internet kiosks
Internet kiosks are located on the ground floor near McDonald's
restaurant, and on the first floor near the Made in New Zealand
shop. Charges are NZ$2 for 10 minutes. The machines only accept
NZ$2 coins.
Look-out lounge observation area
Located on the top floor of the international terminal, the
observation area provides excellent views of the airfield
and departing passengers. This area also houses a display
about pioneering aviator Jean Batten and displays her historic
Percival Gull aircraft. It is also home to the Airtime Magic
museum.
Mail
Postage stamps are sold at
- Whitcoulls, ground and first floor, international terminal
- Whitcoulls, ground floor, domestic terminals.
Post boxes are found throughout the terminals.
Meeting rooms - The Clubhouse, The Cabin and The Coachrooms
Located in the Air New Zealand domestic terminal, these rooms
are available for hire for meetings, seminars or private gatherings.

Muslim prayer mat
The prayer mat is located on the first floor, international
terminal, in the western pedestrian bridge.
Passenger assistance
Airport hospitality ambassadors or 'Blue Coats' are available
throughout the terminals to assist passengers. They are easily
located due to their distinctive blue jackets.
Security requirements mean that non-travelling companions
cannot accompany passengers beyond the green departure doors
on the first floor. Any passengers requiring assistance in
the departure area should notify their airline as early as
possible.
Smoking area
Smoking is permitted in designated areas of the forecourt
at the international and domestic terminals.
Showers
Shower facilities are available free of charge, and are located
in the ground floor arrivals area of the international terminal.
Towel hire and key available from the Airways Florist.
Telephones
Coin, phone-card and credit-card telephones are located throughout
the international terminal. Phone-cards are sold at:
Phone-cards are also sold at the Whitcoulls in the domestic
terminal.
Mobile phones are available for hire and purchase from Vodafone
Rental located on the ground floor, international terminal.
Visitors Information Centre
The centre provides a comprehensive information and booking
service, including:
- brochures and travel information
- accommodation and transport bookings
- ticketing for all New Zealand travel operators
- phonecards and maps
- luggage storage.
